How do I care for my rug?

Upon receiving your new vintage Berber rug, it's essential to be aware of any potential irregularities or signs of wear. To maintain its pristine condition, we recommend implementing a routine care and maintenance plan.

Throughout the day, dirt can accumulate within the thick fibers of Moroccan rugs. Regularly removing this dirt can significantly enhance the rug's durability. We suggest shaking the rug outdoors at least once a week to dislodge dust and dirt particles. Additionally, make it a practice to vacuum the rug regularly to address more stubborn spots. This maintenance routine will effectively slow down the aging process, as wool rugs are inherently self-cleaning, especially when exposed to fresh air outdoors, which helps disperse any odors.

When you initially receive your rug, you may notice some shedding of excess fibers that were not fully incorporated during the yarn spinning process. However, rest assured that with a regular vacuuming, this shedding will gradually diminish, leaving you with a rug in perfect condition. In case of spills, it's crucial to act swiftly. Blot the stain immediately with a towel and warm water, avoiding excessive rubbing, which could harm the fibers.

If you ever consider professional cleaning for your rug, we recommend opting for an 'off-site' cleaning service provided by trained professionals. This ensures a controlled environment and the best care for your cherished rug.

Lastly, please keep in mind that every 1-2 years, rotating your rug is advisable to ensure even wear and prevent continuous exposure to direct sunlight. Continuous sunlight exposure can lead to color fading over time.
